A Quiz For You
One of the most important abilities to possess when attending college as a non-traditional student is the ability to properly prioritize your time. Here is a quiz for you:
If you had all of these things to get accomplished within the next 12 days how would you prioritize them?
- Write the largest, most difficult section of you research project for your senior thesis project due a week from Tuesday
- Write a fourteen page report summarizing a book and applying sociological theories learned in class.
- Complete 16 workbook pages in Spanish
- Study for a final exam in Spanish that is on Wednesday
- Complete a study guide for neuropsychology and study for the final exam which occurs on Thursday
- Find a daycare center for your 5 year old son so that you can begin working full time the first week in May
- Attend a state competition for your 12 year old son’s Destination Imagination Team in Noblesville for 2 days
- Balance a checkbook that you haven’t sat down and written in for a month
- Clean house
- Read 4 chapters for Juvenile Delinquency class for which you have a final exam a week from Monday
- Prepare an oral presentation of your senior thesis project which is due a week from Tuesday
- Visit with your mother in law who dropped by
- Attend 5 baseball practices with your sons
- Write in your blog
- Sleep
Accomplish all of the above in 12 days while also performing as a good wife, mother to four children and employee who is scheduled to work 24 hours in the next week.
Most of you would NOT have chosen to write in your blog. Being the psychology major that I am, I realized that I will be more productive if I can just get all of this on paper and spend a few minutes in self pity. Once on paper I will realize that it is not an impossibility to accomplish such things in the next….wait, I only have 9 days now! Gotta go!!! I’ll write again next week to let you know how it went!
(**Note: College life is NOT always like this, only during finals so this is not meant to discourage potential students from pursuing their degrees….the degree is worth whatever it takes some weeks of the semester are just easier than others).
