PublicationsStudents at IUS have the opportunity to submit their written work in many venues. Three of the most exciting challenges are the IUS Writing Contest, the Metroversity Writing Contest, and the student-produced literary periodical, the IUS Review. Each of these three has an annual deadline, which may vary, but students may submit to any one or all of them simultaneously through the Writing Center. IUS Writing ContestThe IUS Writing Contest accepts submissions from all majors across campus in Research Writing, Short Non-fiction, Short Fiction, and Poetry; monetary awards accompany First, Second, and Third Place winners. The awards are presented in December of each year, at the annual English Student Gala. Metroversity Writing AwardsThe Metroversity Writing Awards accepts submissions annually from all students and also has four categories: poems, short stories, essays, and research papers. The competition itself is among students at eight local universities, colleges, and seminaries, and presents monetary awards. IUS ReviewThe IUS Review accepts work from all writers, but makes a pointed effort to generate submissions from current IUS students. Students edit the Review itself, overseeing all aspects of its publication. Students interested in working on the Review staff may apply for positions on an annual basis by contacting the faculty advisor, James O'Neal. | |
