ESL/ENL License
Highlights
|
|
The 'English as a Second Language/English as a New Language' (ESL/ENL) program is for a license addition, requiring an initial teaching license. It combines four on-line courses offered by IU Bloomington and four on-site courses offered by IU Southeast. IU Southeast´s graduate licensing advisor will initiate the licensing procedures and will provide assistance to candidates as well as inter-institutional coordination; IU Bloomington's licensing office will finalize license recommendations at program completion. Course substitutions are approved by the IU Bloomington licensing office; advising takes place at IU Southeast.
Some course work may be applicable to the master´s degree at IU Southeast; candidates interested in pursuing the master´s should verify this with the IU Southeast graduate licensing advisor and program coordinator. H520 and M300 are interchangeable. M501 is the clinical experience, taken in a local setting; however, candidates also have the option of completing part of their clinical experience abroad by taking the H553 course (in Ecuador), which carries 2 credit hours; one credit of M501 would be required to complete the clinical experience.
Presently, tuition for on-line courses is considered "in-state" for all participants. Per Reciprocity Agreement between Indiana and Kentucky, candidates from the Kentucky counties of Bullitt, Jefferson, Meade, Oldham, and Trimble (residing there for at least one year) are eligible for "in-state" tuition rates at IU Southeast.
