Education Home > Transition to Teaching Program Welcome to the Transition to Teaching Program
People who already hold a bachelor’s degree may qualify for Transition to Teaching--a "fast-track" teacher certification program. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with an overall grade-point-average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. An exception to the grade-point-average is available to those who have five years of appropriate full-time experience related to their major and at least a 2.50 GPA. Along with other application information, candidates must provide passing scores, based on the Indiana Office of Educator Licensing and Development, on both Praxis I (PPST) (or alternative assessments) and the relevant Praxis II test(s), to be admitted to the program. (IN does not place a time limit on Praxis scores; KY requires they be no more than five years old at the time of the license application.) Please see the Elementary Transition To Teaching Admissions Requirements for alternatives to PRAXIS I. For more information please contact the T2T Program Coordinator, Mrs. Sheryl Burns (sburns@ius.edu, 812/941.2012). As of 6/1/2011, the Secondary T2T program is not accepting candidates until futher notice. Thank you for your interest in the program. |
