1.  Roll

 The roll was distributed for Senators and substitutes to initial.
 
2.  Approval of Minutes

 A motion to approve the minutes of the April 6, 2000 meeting was passed without dissent.

3.  Chancellor’s Period

Chancellor Richardson congratulated the president on his election and is looking forward to working with the new Senate.

The capital project list will include a new library building and the renovation of the present building.  This will be put before the trustees and the legislature.

The Community College issue was launched on April 5, 2000.  The projections are that the new system will mature with enrollment of 80-90,000 students.  Students who participate will be different than those who attend IU.
 
Questions concerning the office crunch in the library building, community college issue, student housing were discussed.

4.  President’s Period

President Bjornson thanked the Senate for electing him as President.  He also announced that he would be available on campus and off campus.
President Bjornson will hold a short session before the first meeting to go over Robert’s Rules.  There will be a handout.
