IU Southeast seeks applicants for an assistant professor of choral music. IU Southeast offers a B.A. in Music with area concentrations in performance, composition, music technology, and music business with excellent performing venues. There are currently two choirs: a concert choir and a community chorus which the successful candidate will direct. Responsibilities may also include teaching music fundamentals, music appreciation, conducting or other courses in the program appropriate to the successful candidate’s expertise. Recruiting and program development will also be an important part of the responsibilities. Teaching assignment of 12 credit hours per semester equivalent with the possibility of release time for research/creative work. Minimum Requirements: Masters in Choral Conducting, and ABD (all but dissertation) in Choral Conducting or Associated Field. POSITION: Graphic Design Lecturer DEPARTMENT: Fine Arts/Graphic Design EFFECTIVE: August 1, 2010 JOB SUMMARY: The position also includes the coordination of the Design Center. The Design Center functions as an on-campus design business with student interns from the graphic design program as employees. The work that the Center will design and produce is for on campus clients and nonprofit community businesses. Tasks include, but are not limited to marketing and publicizing the work of the Center, monitoring all aspects of project development, managing workflow to deliver quality product on time, generating statistical and performance reports, budget co-development with head of graphic design, and supervision and hands-on instruction of student interns. It will also involve initiating and managing meetings and interacting with administrators, deans, faculty, and community professionals. The position requires a high level of Apple Macintosh computer application skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Suite of graphic applications including web, and knowledge of print production), exceptional people skills and an incredible attention to detail. The School of Education invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Secondary Education-Mathematics position beginning in August of 2010. In addition to teaching secondary undergraduate courses in mathematics methods and general methods, the position requires supervising secondary student teachers and teaching secondary graduate mathematics methods courses. The person will also coordinate the Secondary Mathematics Education Program. Active participation in the School of Education and University committees is expected, as well as commitment to scholarly work, building partnerships with K-12 schools, and diversity. Qualifications: Earned doctorate from accredited university with a major or minor in secondary mathematics education or equivalent coursework (ABD candidates may apply but doctorate must be completed by August of 2010); coursework in secondary (high school) mathematics education; valid secondary (high school) teaching license in mathematics; and at least two years of full-time secondary public school teaching in mathematics are required. Tenure-track Informatics Position for Fall 2010. Responsibilities: The School of Natural Sciences, Informatics Department is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure-track Informatics position starting August 2010 at the assistant professor level.
Preference will be given to candidates who:
The position will have responsibility for teaching both required and elective undergraduate courses in Informatics, including a capstone sequence for seniors that includes projects that apply computing to a specific problem domain (see: http://www.informatics.ius.edu/ for a complete list of courses). A normal teaching load with research release is nine (9) hours per semester. Scholarly activity and research output are expected. Criminology and Criminal Justice Indiana University Southeast is pleased to announce two openings for tenure track positions at the assistant professor level in Criminology and Criminal Justice beginning August 2010. Ph.D. in Criminology and/or Criminal Justice or a related area is required (J.D. degree alone is not sufficient). Candidates in the very final stages of the dissertation will be considered. The successful candidates should be generalists and will be expected to teach a wide variety of courses in criminology and criminal justice. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach courses in theory, methods, policing, or criminal courts. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to develop a research program that can be sustained at an undergraduate institution, with inclusion of undergraduates in research a plus. College teaching experience is strongly preferred and candidates should be firmly committed to high quality undergraduate teaching. Some teaching of evening classes is required. The criminology and criminal justice program is a relatively new and growing program within the School of Social Sciences and maintains strong support for teaching innovation, faculty research, and community service.
