Hourly Worker - Registrar's Office Print this Job Posting

POSITION:                  HOURLY WORKER

                                     Registrar’s Office

HOURS:    Flexibility, with average of 20 hours per week; 48 weeks per calendar year.  Hours will be adjusted accordingly to peak times which are the start and end dates of each semester.  Work to be done within confines of Registrar’s Office.

SALARY:  $10.00 per hour

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

Coordinate registration, tracking, and collection of final grades for special groups:  ICN (Indiana College Network); Metroversity; summer workshops; and off-campus courses.  Audit student record transactions; filing; and assist with special projects, such as Academic Honors Convocation and Commencement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent communication skills:  in-person and phone.

Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience working with relational database (IU SIS experience preferred).

Significant computer use required.

Experience with Microsoft Office tools (primarily Word and Excel).

Learn new software and upgrades as required.

Confidentiality required.

Sedentary work:  sitting for extended periods.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Explain policy and procedures to students regarding specialized registration (ICN, Metroversity, ACP, off-campus courses).  Manually register these students into SIS database; monitor throughout semester; coordinate collection of final grades.  Communicate extensively with state agencies, other universities, IUS departments, and students.  Maintain spreadsheets for tracking information.  Learn IUS academic policies and assist Registrar’s staff with SIS transactions and other duties as assigned.

Coordinator for Volunteer Programs - Campus Life Print this Job Posting

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:
Develop, implement, evaluate and manage service opportunities and programming to enhance students’ applied learning, encourage their active citizenship, and engage them actively in campus and community life. Collaborate and partner with Academic Affairs and individual faculty members in their development of service learning opportunities. Represent IU Southeast to non-profit service organizations throughout the Louisville and southern Indiana region and to other campus-based community service offices, especially within the IU system. Pursue opportunities for external funding.  This position reports to the Associate Director of Campus Life and is part of the Student Affairs division.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred
One to two years volunteer management required. Three to five years preferred.
Proven leadership in motivating volunteers and program development in higher education or the non-profit sector.
Supervision experience preferred.
Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Competency in basic computer applications including Word and database programs.
Budget development and management experience.
Proven orientation toward quality service and teamwork.
Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
External funding proposal development preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, implement and evaluate educational and promotional programs to engage students in service, prepare them for success in the volunteer role, and facilitate their applied learning (e.g. MLK Day of Service, Alternative Spring Break, etc.). Work in collaboration with Academic Affairs and other Student Affairs departments to engage students, faculty and staff in service opportunities.

Conduct student assessment and satisfaction surveys and other evaluative measures.

Develop relationships and/or partnerships with local/regional/state/national agencies and organizations to develop quality community service opportunities for members of the IU Southeast community.

Develop comprehensive marketing plan to promote community service to students as an applied learning opportunity, to recruit more students to serve in volunteer roles, and to promote the Volunteer Programs office as a resource center.

Maintain and update a current list of volunteer/service opportunities in the region.

Manage budget for Volunteer Programs, including required reporting associated with grant-related funds.  Develop and propose annual budget requests and justifications.
Seek opportunities for external funding/support.

Analyze and improve volunteer management systems. Collaborate with Career Services to include service opportunities on the employment website.
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees and interns to accomplish goals.

Increase participation in and utilization of resources such as Campus Compact, Idealist on Campus, etc. Serve as the campus representative to Indiana Campus Compact.

Serve as a resource to student organizations, advisors and individual students.

Maintain and update database system to document required service hours for student organizations.

Participate as a member of Campus Life staff and assist with projects and programs to meet the goals of the department and the institutional strategic plan. Some weekend and evening work hours are required, depending on the program and event calendar. 

Develop recognition programs and coordinate nominations for community service awards for members of the IUS community.

Conduct a service project at new student orientation.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director or Director of Campus Life.

RENUMERATION
Salary grade and range: $14.84/hour
This 30 hour/week position is partially funded by the 21st Century Scholars grant through May of 2009. Thereafter, it will return to 20 hours/week, Monday-Thursday.

The 21st Century Scholars grant is to increase access and retention rates for 21st Century Scholars and other low income students by creating services that includes not only the student, but their home support system.

DUTIES INCLUDE:
Plan and execute events for 21st Century Scholars
Maintain and update data on 21st Century Scholars
Work with the regional 21st Century Scholars office to plan and coordinate events
Coordinating the Southeast Scholars Parent Association
Help manage the budget
General administrative duties
Promote the Southeast Scholars Program at on/off campus events
Work to coordinate activities with other key campus leaders
