POSITION: SET-UP COORDINATOR SM02 $10.45hr / $21,736.00yr DEPARTMENT: DINING & CONFERENCE SERVICES EFFECTIVE: IMMEDIATELY OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY: Arrange areas in the University Center and throughout campus for meetings, conferences, programs, banquets and other events according to request. Enhance the appearance of IUS by providing and maintaining a clean and safe learning and working environment. Duties include; custodial work, placing of tables, chairs, lecterns, set up of audiovisual, sound and lighting for internal and external customers. Maintain and control equipment and inventory. Train and oversee work of student staff. Tasks include: lifting, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, standing, and walking. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instruction Critical reasoning and problem solving skills Excellent interpersonal skills Knowledge of basic electrical, audiovisual sound and lighting equipment Ability to work with little supervision and make decisions with regard to scheduling priorities and meeting deadlines Flexible and ability to work varied hours, some nights and weekends Ability to work effectively, tactfully, and patiently with facility users Average mobility needed Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, use fingers, sit, stand, talk, hear, see, walk, drive. (A valid driver’s license is required.) Ability to use or operate sound systems, microphones, cassette player, CD player, mixer, lighting, sound board, Media Services equipment, buffer, dishwasher, etc. Ability to lift 100 pounds Proven orientation toward quality service Basic computer skills Must be able to read, write, and comprehend printed English for understanding of functions sheets and special guest requests. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Arrange tables, chairs, furniture, audiovisual equipment, etc. in proper requested order for meetings, programs, and other various functions in specified rooms. Assist with food service and event set-ups that occur outside of the University Center. Assist with hiring, training, scheduling and overseeing the work of student staff. Communicate with the users of the facility, handling customer requests and complaints. Deliver tables, equipment and set-up of facilities throughout campus. Conduct daily room maintenance reports. Inform the Director and Associate Director of Dining & Conference Services of damage and/or problems. Create work orders to schedule repairs with physical plant for University Center facilities and equipment and copy the Director and Associate Director of Dining & Conference Services. Troubleshoot problems such as shortage of equipment, locations, and time frames. Perform custodial services such as mop and buff floors, vacuum carpets after events as needed, clean tables and chairs, removal of audio/visual equipment, empty trash, clean spills in UC hallway, meeting rooms and restrooms, fill hand towels and toilet tissue in restrooms. Maintain storage, security, and inventory of University Center equipment, including tables, chairs, staging, lecterns, skirting, sound and lighting equipment, Media Services equipment, and other related equipment. Operate electrical and air handling equipment. Assist with maintenance of kitchen hallway, kitchen, floor, and emptying of trash from all meetings and food court. Maintain stock rooms, accept deliveries, put away stock, and assist with inventory. Replace light bulbs in all meeting rooms as needed. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. POSITION: POLICE OFFICER SM05 $31,990.40yr DEPARTMENT: UNIVERSITY POLICE EFFECTIVE: IMMEDIATELY OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY: Provide a safe, secure and service oriented environment conducive to the learning mission of the University. Perform a variety of functions in connection with general duty police work for maintenance of public peace and welfare, protection of lives and property, and enforcement of laws and University regulations. Act without immediate supervision and exercise independent judgment in emergency situations. Tasks include, but not limited to: traffic regulations; handling complaints; conducting investigations; making reports; guarding University property. Shifts are on a rotating basis, including weekends and holidays. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: U.S. Citizenship. Must be 21 years of age. Vision correctable to 20/40 Distinguish the colors red, green, and amber. Driver's license. Minimum of 36 college credit hours completed. Accredited Law Enforcement Certificate preferred. Respond to any hazardous materials spill or accident and take necessary action (i.e., evacuation, notification of appropriate authorities, site clean-up, proper disposal of spill material, etc.). Assist in developing, monitoring, training, enforcing, and disposing with hazardous materials program (along with necessary documentation). Take immediate, appropriate action in bomb threat situations and report it to supervisor. Identify self to all individuals requesting it. Display badge and identification when requested. Assist other police agencies, as requested. Stay current with Federal and State laws and University regulations. Attend training sessions requested by the supervisor. Appear in court when summoned as a result of an arrest or criminal case. Make daily reports on incidents and complaints. Work on a rotating shift basis, including weekends and holidays and under adverse weather conditions. Stay on duty until properly relieved. Subject to being on call 24 hours coverage or in emergencies. Maintain strict confidentiality of information obtained in investigations and report it only to supervisor.
