The Indiana University Southeast Library houses several special collections.
The Indiana University Center for Cultural Resources is a collection of resource kits, each organized to teach a core of 12 universal themes on unity and diversity.
As the official repository of the Indiana University Southeast, the Library houses a variety of official and historical documents and records, including Bulletins, reports, manuals, photographs, and The Horizon, the Indiana University Southeast student newspaper.
The Ars Femina Archives consists of musical scores by women, composed between 1500 and 1900. This collection, assembled by the Ars Femina ensemble, Indiana University Southeast's ensemble in residence, will eventually include nearly 3,000 scores in print and microform. It documents the important but under-recognized contributions women have made to the development of musical style.
The William L. Simon Sheet Music Collection consists of 19,000 pieces of sheet music published between the mid-19th century and the end of the 20th century. This collection of American popular songs includes first editions by Stephen Foster, signed editions by prominent songwriters and performers of the 20th century, movie and show music, ragtime, blues, and jazz, sheet music from various animated cartoon features, and wartime music from the Civil War through the Vietnam War. It also includes songs about news events (the Titanic disaster, the flights of Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart), transportation, temperance, and a host of other topics. The Simon Collection is a rich resource for researchers interested in the intersection between American culture and popular song.
