RN-B.S. in NursingAdmissions School of NursingB.S. in Nursing |
Advanced StandingRN-BSN students receive advanced standing in the baccalaureate program following successful completion of required nursing transition courses (B304 and B404). Special credit will be awarded for the following nursing courses once the transition courses are completed and students have paid any specified credit hour special fees:
A grade of S (Satisfactory) will be recorded on the transcript for the above courses according to criteria determined by the faculty. Nursing elective credit for Z490/Z492 (Clinical Experience in Nursing/Independent Study in Nursing) may be awarded to RNs holding valid specialty certification from a professional nursing organization in an appropriate area of nursing. A maximum of 2 credit hours may be awarded. Portfolio Option: Students also may pursue the portfolio option if they believe they have knowledge and skills consistent with specific required course objectives/outcomes. If a student wishes to pursue this mechanism for advanced standing, the student must contact the academic advisor. This should be done during the semester prior to the semester in which the student would actually need to take the course. If the portfolio is not accepted, the student must register for and successfully complete the course. (Please see portfolio review process under SON academic policies.) For specific information on advanced-standing procedures, registered nurse applicants should contact the academic nursing counselor on the campus of enrollment. |
