  1. What time does out-going mail leave the university?

The mail leaves the dock at 4:00. In order to get mail processed, it should be at mail services by 3:45 at the latest.

  1. Once a package is received, how long will it take to get to the department?

Mail services “non-peak” policy is as follows: For next day/second day packages, allow 4-6 business hours for delivery. For all others allow 8 business hours, with the exception of complimentary instruction books.

  1. Can I have a personal package delivered to IUS?

No.

  1. Does Mail Services have the right to open my packages?

If a package has no name or department on it, mail services must open it to determine to whom it should be delivered.  Otherwise, Mail Services does not open packages.

  1. Can IUS Mail Services ship packages out?

IUS Mail Services can ship small packages through the US Postal Service.  The IUS Bookstore (ext. 2234) can provide shipping through UPS.  If any other method of shipping is desired, departments should contact the individual shipping company to make arrangements.

  1. What should I do if I have a package that needs to be returned?

Fill out Material Return Slip, and have call tag ready (if applicable).

  1. How do I arrange for a pickup of my bulk mailing?

You should send in a bulk mail pickup request at least one day in advance of the day that the pickup is required.

  1. How can I track a package to find out where it is?

The Mail Services homepage has a site through which you can track a package through specific shipping companies.  If your shipping company is not available, contact Mail Services at 941-2339 for assistance.  Click here for the tracking site.
