Crime victims, regardless of how seemingly insignificant the crime, are encouraged to report the incident to the IU Southeast Police immediately. To report a crime, the victim or witness needs only to call the Police phone number (812 941-2400), use one of the emergency phones, or come to the Police office (UC 027). Each month, these incidents are categorized and reported to the FBI. Crime alerts may be posted on bulletins boards around campus or placed in various University publications. University employees will assist a student in notifying the police if requested. The University Police will assist the student in notifying local police if needed of off campus incidents.
When comparing instances of crime at IU Southeast to other institutions of similar size, you will find the crime rate at this campus is one of the lowest. Although we believe that our low crime rate will continue, this report is not intended to give a false sense of security. You need to know that crime will occur, but prevention efforts can be effective in reducing the opportunitites for criminal activity. You can play a key role in our crime prevention efforts. Be cautious, careful, alert to your own safety and protective of both your property and that of the University.
