Metroversity Writing Competition
Categories: poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, academic writing, and an international category for undergraduate ESL students.
Prizes: In each category, monetary prizes will be awarded for first and second place and in two separate divisions - undergraduate and graduate.
Entry Information: You may submit two works in each category, except for poetry, which is up to three poems. Prose entries may not exceed 40 pages in length. Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony and a public reading in April.
Guidelines: The competition is open to any student registered during the 2007-2008 academic year in one or more classes at a Metroversity institution. Entries must be unpublished, but they may be entered simultaneously in other competitions. Manuscripts must be typed, double spaced (poetry may be single spaced). Submit two copies of each entry (a poem is an entry). Attach to the two copies a completed official entry form available from the Writing Center in KV 208. Your name must not appear anywhere on the manuscript; however, the title of the work must be on each page. Manuscripts will not be returned.

Common Experience Essay Competition
Categories: essay, poetry, research/report, two-dimensional art, and photography.

Prizes: The top three submissions will receive cash prizes of $300, $200, and $100. Their work will appear on the Common Experience Web site.
Entry Information: Submit all items to Gloria J. Murray, Chair of the IU Southeast Common Experience Committee. All entries are to be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word via e-mail to glomurra@ius.edu. Art work and photography may be delivered to the School of Education main office in HH 0020.
Guidelines: Students can decide which mode best represents their ideas regarding the Common Experience theme, "Identity in a Multicultural World: Who Am I?"
IUS Writing Competition
Categories: poetry, fiction, flash fiction, parody, nonfiction, and research/report.
Prizes: cash prizes or gift certificates for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries in each category.
Entry Information: Entries should be from current students or those who were enrolled at IUS during the previous academic year. All submissions should include the entry form available in the Writing Center, KV 208, and should follow the guidelines on the form. An awards ceremony with distribution of prizes will take place.
Guidelines: Submit two copies of each entry (typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double spaced, and without author's name) to the Writing Center in KV 208 by May 1, 2008.

IUS Review
The Review is a student literary journal that showcases the best short fiction, poetry, creative fiction, visual art, and photography produced by IUS students.
A release party where contributors present their works takes place every year. The current release party is scheduled for February 21, 2008, at 7 p.m. in UC 127. Copies of The Review are provided free of charge at the release party.
IUS Review Call For Submissions
IUS Undergraduate Research Journal (URJ)
Categories: Research within any discipline: humanities, social sciences, or sciences
Prizes: Chosen research will be published in the newest edition of the IU Southeast Undergraduate Research Journal that is published at the end of spring.
Entry Information: Submissions should be from current IUS undergraduate students. Original research should be submitted in an e-mail attachment in Microsoft Word to iuswrite@ius.edu.
Guidelines: Research should be approximately 8 to 25 pages, Times New Roman/12 pt. font, double spaced, contain proper academic sources, and be of final draft quality. The student's name should not appear anywhere on the paper. In the body of the e-mail, please include the name and contact information, including the e-mail address that the student checks most often. Acceptance letters will be sent via e-mail.
