Wellstone Regional Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility located in Jeffersonville, Indiana and has been providing quality health care to the residents of Southern Indiana and the Louisville area since 2003. Wellstone specializes in the treatment of Adolescents, Children, Adults, CD, and the Geriatric population. In addition to our in-patient services, we offer out-patient programs as well. Wellstone currently has a HIM Coder position available full-time, Monday thru Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Under the direction of the Medical Records Director, the Coder/Abstractor is responsible for the accurate coding and abstracting of information according to the current classification system. Following hospital, state, and federal rules on release of information, reviews requests for patient information and determines if release is valid. This is a non-exempt position.

Education: Medical coding certification and high school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: At least two (2) years experience in health care information management/medical records and a thorough knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Licensure: Must have a valid driver's license; must be a Certified Professional Coder (CPC.)

Additional Requirements: Typing speed of at least 40 wpm preferred. May be required to work occasional overtime and able to work flexible hours.

Candidates will required National, State, and Local background checks, Fingerprinting, Drug test, Child Protective Services check, National Sex Offender check, and reference checks.
