Psychologists study the human mind and human behavior. Research psychologists investigate the physical, cognitive, emotional, or social aspects of human behavior. Psychologists in applied fields provide mental health care in hospitals, clinics, schools, or private settings.

Psychology deals with the behavior and mental processes of humans and animals. Students who major in psychology have many different interests and backgrounds, but they do have in common an overwhelming desire to understand why people do the things they do.

Typical career interest areas may include clinical, industrial, educational, engineering, consumer, community, humanistic and experimental psychology. A major in psychology provides an excellent foundation for entry into employment or advanced training.

IU Southeast offers either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
