The 'English as a Second Language/English as a New Language' (ESL/ENL) Program at IU Southeast in partnership with IU Bloomington is offered to interested candidates for a license addition, requiring an initial teaching license. The program combines four online courses offered by IU Bloomington and four onsite courses offered by IU Southeast. The ESL/ENL program currently consists of eight (8) courses for twenty four (24) credit hours.
Some coursework may be applicable to the master´s degree at IU Southeast; candidates interested in pursuing the master´s should verify this with the IU Southeast graduate licensing advisor and program coordinator. Nine hours may be used toward the Master's if application to the Master's Degree Program occurs after admission to the ESL/ENL license program. Candidates may choose to also explore +30 options with their districts and schools.
IU Southeast´s graduate licensing advisor will initiate the licensing procedures and will provide assistance to candidates as well as inter-institutional coordination; IU Bloomington's licensing office will finalize license recommendations at program completion. Course substitutions are approved by the IU Bloomington licensing office; advising takes place at IU Southeast.
