High School Guidance Counselors
Welcome to the IU Southeast Office of Admissions page for high school guidance counselors. We encourage you to look around the rest of the Office of Admissions site and explore the information available to you and your students.
The Office of Admissions regularly visits high schools in southern Indiana as well as Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham, and Trimble counties in Kentucky. Programs for visiting our campus are provided in the fall and spring. We also encourage students to schedule an individual admissions appointment and one-on-one tour.
If you would like to schedule an IU Southeast representative to visit your school or address specific questions, please contact us by phone at (812) 941-2212 or 1-800-852-8835. You can also e-mail us at admissions@ius.edu.
Explore Dual Credit Options
As demand for dual credit courses increases, look to IU Southeast for options. One option, the Advance College Project (ACP), is a partnership program between Indiana University and participating high schools within the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan. ACP offers college credit to qualified high school seniors who enroll in IU general education courses that are offered at their local high schools during the regular school day and taught by certified high school teachers who hold adjunct lecturer status with Indiana University. ACP courses are administered from the IU Bloomington campus and five regional campuses, including IU Southeast. Through its course offerings, ACP provides an opportunity for high school students to begin college work while in high school. Visit ACP for more information.
In addition, the Bridge to College program allows eligible high school seniors to enroll in college level courses that are taught by IU Southeast faculty. It provides an opportunity for seniors to develop a realistic appreciation and understanding of the expectations for students in college level courses. Whether the course is taught at the high school or on the IU Southeast campus, the course content and requirements are identical to those expected for all IU Southeast students. Students will earn college level credit, which will be recorded on an official Indiana University transcript. Please note that Bridge offerings are subject to the availability of IU Southeast faculty.
Fall 2007 is the best time to begin planning dual credit options for the 2008/2009 school year. To learn more about how your school can offer ACP or Bridge courses, contact Jodie Beatty in the Office of Admissions at 812-941-2190 or via e-mail at hjbeatty@ius.edu.
Early Application Encouraged for 21st Century Scholars
Encourage your 21st Century Scholars to apply for admission to IU Southeast by March 1st. Those who do so qualify for a waiver of the $30 application fee. Scholars who apply after March 1 can qualify for an application fee waiver by submitting SAT or ACT waiver forms, or by demonstrating need through the FAFSA. Please note that only graduating seniors qualify for the 21st Century fee waiver program at IU Southeast.
