Welcome to the Alumni Association!Each graduate, former student, current student, and friend of IU Southeast has a lifelong connection to our University. At the IU Southeast Alumni Association, we help forge these connections into ongoing, engaging relationships with IU Southeast. Please join us for our upcoming events. Alumni and friends of IU Southeast are welcome. Free Membership2013 IU Southeast graduates receive a free one-year membership in the Indiana University Alumni Association. ScholarshipsDID YOU KNOW....IU SOUTHEAST ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OFFERS $10,000 IN STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS? The IU Southeast Alumni Association will award a $1,000 scholarship to one student in each of the University's six schools or divisions. In addition, the Association will once again provide four student athletes with a $1,000 scholarship - an annual gift award by the Association. The scholarships are available for the 2012-2013 school year. For additional information and application, please contact Diane at 941-2384 or defuchs@ius.edu. Scholarship application deadline is February 15, 2013. The Jerry Foster Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the son or daughter of an IUAA Chapter leader currently serving as an officer or a board member. The scholarship is given on academic achievement and financial need as determined by the Office of Scholarships. The Linsmith Scholarships (minimum of $2000) are given to students selected by the Linsmith Scholarship Committee. The Linsmith's generously endowed these scholarship and qualifications are: Children or grandchildren of IUAA staff members representing all campuses; IUAA student employees or interns; Student leaders or student members of an IUAA sponsored organization or group (i.e. committee members of the Nearly Naked Mile, IUPUI Regatta, Homecoming, SAA/STAT/SOAR, etc. For additional information, see http://alumni.indiana.edu/students/scholarships/iuaa.html. Application deadline is March 29, 2013. IUAA Scholars are for students whose parent(s) are members of the IUAA. These $1000 scholarships will be given to 33 students throughout IU and are determined by the Office of Scholarships. Application deadline is March 29, 2013. Informational Items IU Southeast Homecoming - 2/9/13. Come out and support the women's and men's Grenadier basketball teams as they face off against Saint Louis Pharmacy. Women's game is at 2 p.m.; men play at 4 p.m. Free pizza, half-time activities, games, and prizes. Don't miss it! Louisville/Southern Indiana Alumni Chapter is hosting basketball game watch parties at the party room in Roosters, 1601 Greentree Blvd., Clarksville, IN. Planned festivities include game watch party, raffle drawing with proceeds going to scholarship fund, Roosters food and much, much more. Dates and times are as follows: 1/20/13 - 1:00 p.m.; 1/30/13 - 8:30 p.m.; 2/10/13 - 1:00 p.m.; 2/19/13 - 7:00 p.m.; 2/26/13 - 7:00 p.m.; and 3/10/13 - TBA. See you there! Louisville/Southern Indiana Alumni Chapter is sponsoring a Big 10 Frankfort Avenue Trolley Tour on Friday, 2/22/13. Trolleys run from 6 to 10:30 p.m. unless otherwise specified. Free parking and trolley hop - park at one of the many convenient FREE and Public Parking areas and board the Frankfort Avenue Trolley at any designated stop. The trolley route runs from Story and Mellwood Avenue to Cannon's Lane. Join chapter hosts Jon & Lindsey for the evening at the "official" IU bar - location TBA. Learn the history of the bourbon industry by taking a guided motorcoach tour of a portion of the Bourbon Trail in northern Kentucky. The Louisville/Southern Indiana Chapter of the IUAA invites its members and any friends to enjoy a day touring local, historic distilleries in and around the city of Bardstown, KY. Note: Both tours involve walking and climbing some stairs....the distilleries are not currently handicapped-accessible. IU LICENSE PLATE RISES TO NUMBER ONE OVERALL After two decades of leading the collegiate category in number of license plates on the road, the IU plate in 2011 vaulted to the top of all speciality plates in the state of Indiana, according to a January report from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. For each IU plate sold, a portion of the revenue goes to the IU Alumni Association, which manages IU's license-plate program and uses the funds for a wide range of programs and services. BRIDGE MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM ANNOUNCED The Indiana University Alumni Association is launching a "Bridge Membership" program to help unemployed alumni. This complimentary one-year membership provides access to online career services, the alumni directory for networking, and upcoming webinars and group coaching sessions. Alumni must call the Indiana University Alumni Association and speak to the membership department to sign up for this program, they may not sign up online.
