Dr. Pooser continues to explore new areas of the francophone world, incorporating in his classes, in his research, and/or sharing with his students on a more personal basis the many insights that these experiences have provided him. In addition to France, his travels to francophone areas of the world, whether for research or for cultural enrichment, have thus far included stays in Guadeloupe, Martinique, Quebec, New Brunswick and French-speaking areas of Nova Scotia, Morocco, Switzerland, the Aosta Valley of Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, Monaco, and Cajun areas of Louisiana.

Dr. Pooser is active in community outreach related to international cultural connections, both on campus and off, including Alliance Française de Louisville and Sister Cities of Louisville. Whether it be a Bastille Day picnic, a Fête de la Musique celebration, a petanque or mancala tournament, a Cajun fais-dodo, a concert of French baroque music or the latest francophone film to hit Louisville, you’ll often find him there. He is also a great lover of music, film and fine food from around the world and takes pride in sharing his growing collection of international films and music with others.

Dr. Pooser feels so fortunate to have had the opportunity to interact with so many wonderful students in his years of teaching. Hoping to have made some small contribution toward broadening his students’ appreciation of the marvelous diversity of thought and ways of living around the world, he acknowledges with deepest appreciation how much his students have enriched and enlivened his own life. Merci de tout mon coeur!
