Our initiatives include bringing visiting artists and lecturers to campus, organizing group activities for students to enhance their education in the arts, providing support for studio equipment for the IU Southeast Fine Art Program, and promoting outreach about the arts to local schools. Members of the group benefit from a more in depth education in the arts, as well as a better sense of camaraderie within the IU Southeast art community and more experience gaining teamwork and communication skills.

  • Southern Indiana Women's Choral Festival

The idea of creating the Southern Indiana Women’s Choral Festival began twelve years ago, when a group of motivated local high school choral directors joined forces to offer talented students from the area the opportunity to celebrate the beauty of the female voice. Linda DeRungs, Angela Hampton, and Leslie Rajchel created this festival involving dedicated students, from freshmen to seniors, who learn varied literature for treble voices for a day of choral singing. For years, the various participating schools took their students to different venues to work under different directors. In 2010, IUS was invited to host the festival and over two hundred students came to our campus to work on challenging literature. The festival was a success and our campus was chosen to serve as the home for this wonderful event. IUS is proud to inherit such a great tradition and looks forward to making the Southern Indiana Women’s Choral Festival a part of our own choral tradition.
