Ramona Morris' Play Selected for Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights

Ramona MorrisNEW ALBANY, IN, (May 22, 2012) – Ramona Morris' Play, Thirsting by the River Gilgamesh, selected for Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights.

Congratulations to Ramona Morris, IU Southeast adjunct lecturer in Theatre whose play, THIRSTING BY THE RIVER GILGAMESH was one of six plays selected by Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Va., for its Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights for a staged reading in July.

The annual festival celebrates the richness of the Appalachian tradition by showcasing the stories of the region, both past and present, and the inspiration it provides the playwrights and writers who live there.

The Festival has gained national attention by developing a process that has resulted in plays being produced not only on one of Barter’s two stages, but in regional theatres throughout the country.
