The Bachelor of Arts in Communication – Theatre Major

All required courses in the theatre track must be completed with a minimum grade of C. Students may not use correspondence courses in theatre for academic credit. Students may take one theatre course through Metroversity per year, totaling no more than 4 Metroversity credit hours.

  • THTR-T 120 Acting I (3 cr. hrs.)
  • THTR-T 220 Acting II or THTR-T 320 Acting III
  • THTR-T 222 Voice for the Actor
  • THTR-T 225 Stagecraft I
  • A minimum of 3 credit hours from theatre design courses. Choose from:
    • THTR-T 230 Stage Costume & Technology I
    • THTR-T 326 Scene Design
    • THTR-T 335 Stage Lighting I
    • THTR-T 433 Costume Design
  • THTR-T 270 Introduction to History of Theatre I
  • THTR-T 271 Introduction to History of Theatre II
  • THTR-T 363 Modern Plays for Stage Interpretation
  • A minimum of 3 credit hours from dramatic literature courses. Choose from:
    • ENG-L 203, ENG-L 220, ENG-L 308, ENG-L 309, ENG-L 313, ENG-L 314, ENG-L 328, ENG-L363, ENG-L 365, ENG-L 366, or THTR-T 275
  • Nine (9) credit hours must be selected from courses in theatre at the 200-400 level
  • Six (6) credit hours in practical experience to be chosen as a combination of:
    • THTR-T 349 Speech and Theatre Practicum
    • THTR-T 385 Theatre Laboratory
  • Three (3) credit hours Senior Capstone Experience
    • Capstone Experience and Portfolio Review: Junior-level theatre-track majors within the Department of Communication must schedule a capstone experience to be completed during their senior year of study with a member of the Theatre faculty.

Theatre Minor

All course in the minor must be completed with a grade of C- or higher.

  • THTR-T 120 Acting I (3 cr. hrs.)
  • THTR-T 225 Stagecraft I
  • THTR-T 270 Introduction to History of Theatre I or THTR-T 271 Introduction to History of Theatre II
  • Six (6) credit hours to be selected from theatre courses above the 100 level
