For artist Leslie Doyle (Young Artists Workshop), art has always held a significant place in her life. She knew this would be her career at a young age, and she was quick to expand her artistic abilities at the university level. Ms. Doyle graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2006, where she expanded her experience with various artistic media in studio courses and studied art education. This is where Leslie was first introduced to her medium of specialty, photography. She continued her education at the University of Kentucky, where she received her Master in Fine Arts degree in 2009. During graduate school, Ms. Doyle was invested in expanding her knowledge of art materials, processes, and practices in order to have the ability to teach others as much as possible in the future. Leslie focused on developing her photographic skills and created participatory projects where others could be involved in the act of art making. After attending UK, Ms. Doyle was invited back as an instructor for two years in photography courses. Currently, Leslie is an instructor at Indiana University Southeast in Art Appreciation, and in her second specialty, Drawing. When not teaching at IU Southeast, she is invested in teaching all ages at Spot 5 Art Studio in Louisville, Kentucky. Leslie teaches photography courses to adults and a variety of summer camps to younger students. She assists students in developing their artistic skills in a variety of media, and the studio itself hopes to provide a positive environment where everyone is encouraged and challenged in their creative abilities. As an artist, Ms. Doyle focuses on formal abstract photography and continues to experiment with alternative photographic processes.
