Assessment of Student Learning

Introduction

The objectives of Academic Program Assessment are to:

  • Establish learning goals that address the content and level of knowledge and skills that faculty expect graduates of the academic program to possess
  • Verify that these requirements are appropriate for the degree being awarded and consistent with IUS's standards of academic performance
  • Measure (assess) the extent to which graduating students have obtained the knowledge and skills specified by the academic program's learning goals
  • Use the (assessment) data collected for improvement of the academic program.
  • Establish an assessment program to institutionalize the above objectives as a cyclical process for continuous improvement of the academic program.

The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment will assist and support all academic programs' efforts to achieve the above objectives. Please contact us with any questions or support requests.
