Men’s
Basketball Head Coach – Wiley Brown

Wiley
Brown begins his first year as head coach for the men’s basketball program at
Indiana University Southeast. A starting forward on the NCAA Division I
National Champion basketball team at the University of Louisville in 1980 and a
member of the 1982 Final Four team, Brown previously served in multiple
capacities in the University of Louisville athletic department for the past 15
years. Brown served as strength and conditioning coordinator under both former
Louisville Hall of Fame Head Coach Denny Crum and current Louisville Head Coach
Rick Pitino for a total of 13 years.
In
2003, Brown served as an interim assistant coach for the Louisville men’s
basketball program. Beginning in 2005, Brown served Louisville Athletic
Director Tom Jurich as the assistant director of outreach and most recently as
the director of community enrichment. During that time he managed fundraising
efforts for outreach programs throughout greater Louisville and directed the
CARDSfit program.
Brown
is no stranger to playing at a competitive level. As a player at Louisville,
Brown posted career totals of 699 points, 407 rebounds and 121 assists, helping
the Cardinals to a combined 101-30 four-year record.
After
finishing his successful collegiate basketball playing career, Brown joined the
National Football League (NFL) where he played defensive end for two seasons
with the Philadelphia Eagles. During his time with the Eagles’ organization,
Brown played under the direction of Dick Vermeil and Marion Campbell.
After
his brief stint in the NFL, Brown returned to basketball. For seven years Brown
played professional basketball in the International Federation of Basketball
where he traveled throughout the world.
Brown spent one year with the CBA Louisville Catbirds and the remaining
six years in
Spain, France, and Italy.
A
native of Sylvester, Ga., Brown kept a promise to his mother by earning his
bachelor's degree in 1992 from the University of Louisville. He majored in
communications, health education and Pan African studies. He was twice named to
the U of L honor roll. He and his wife, Anne-Marie, reside in Louisville and
have one son, Caleb.

Assistant
Coach – Antwain Banks

Antwain
Banks enters his fourth season as an assistant coach at IU Southeast. He
coached three years under the direction of now Wake Forest University Director
of Basketball Operations Walt Corbean, and begins this season on the staff of
Wiley Brown.
He is
a former player of the Grenadiers and was a key component of the back-to-back
KIAC Conference Championships in the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons. Banks was
also on the IU Southeast squad that made a trip to the NAIA National Tournament
in the 2002-2003 season.
Banks
is a 1999 graduate of John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana. Prior to
attending IU Southeast, Banks played two successful years at Ancilla Junior
College where he helped lead them to their first Michigan Community College
Athletic Association (MCCAA) Conference Tournament appearance in school
history.
Assistant Coach – Alvin Thomas
Alvin Thomas enters his second season as
an assistant coach for the men’s basketball program at Indiana University
Southeast. He coached his first season under the direction of now Wake Forest
University Director of Basketball Operations Walt Corbean and begins this
season as an assistant for Wiley Brown.
Prior to coming to IU Southeast, Thomas spent three years as an assistant coach
at Louisville Seneca High School under the direction of former University of
Louisville player and current Jeffersonville High School Athletic Director Tony
Branch.
Thomas also founded the Louisville Street Heat AAU Basketball program. The
basketball program fielded winning teams for both boys and girls (2002-2006).
The Louisville Street Heat has produced several Kentucky All-Stars, All-State
Team Members, along with many Regional and District Most Valuable Players
(MVP).
Coach Thomas was a standout athlete in
high school at Louisville Male. During his time as a Bulldog he lettered in
both basketball and track and field. Thomas attended the University of
Louisville, and is currently employed in healthcare. He and his wife Kim reside
in Louisville and have a daughter Jordan who is a student at IU Southeast.
Administrative Assistant and Tutor – Henry Robinson
Henry
Robinson begins his first season as men’s basketball administrative assistant
and tutor at Indiana University Southeast.
IU
Southeast welcomes Robinson from the University of Louisville where he served
as an athletic department tutor for five years.
While at Louisville, Robinson was named athletic tutor of the year in
2004 for his excellent work in assisting student-athletes in the Cardinal
athletic department reach academic success.
In
2001, Robinson served as a special education resources teacher in the Jefferson
County Public School system. Prior to his work in education, Robinson worked
for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Louisville where he specialized in the
management of federal properties on military installations and civil
projects.
Robinson
also served in the U.S. Air Force as an air operations specialist and in the
U.S. Army Reserve as an administrative specialist and logistic specialist.
During his time serving his country Robinson received numerous awards including
two Army Achievement Medals and an Army Commendation.
Robinson
received his bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Louisville
and his master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee at
Martin. Robinson resides in Louisville and has three sons, Tim, JR and Mark and
two grandsons, Parker and Chase.

Coordinator – Scott Wilkins

Scott
Wilkins begins his third season with the IU southeast men’s basketball program.
He begins the 2007-08 season in his first year as the Grenadier’s video
coordinator. He previously served as a team manager for two years prior to
making the transition to video coordinator.
Wilkins
duties as a video coordinator include getting game tapes for future opponents
and breaking down the film for the coaches and players. Wilkins also tapes
practices and coordinates all video exchange.
Prior
to becoming a basketball manager, Wilkins ran four seasons for the IU Southeast
cross country team from 1999-2003. He became
the No. 1 runner on the team his final two seasons.
Wilkins
is originally from Goshen, Kentucky and graduated from South Oldham High School
in 1999. At South Oldham Wilkins managed
the boys basketball team while also running track and cross country for the
Dragons.
A
graduate of IU Southeast, Wilkins received his bachelor’s degree in general
studies with a double minor in supervision and recreation/leadership in
December of 2005.
Wilkins
is a native of Oldham County and spends his free time as an assistant coach for
the boys and girls cross country and track teams at South Oldham High
School. He has aspirations of becoming
an NCAA Division I men’s assistant basketball coach and eventually a head
coach.
Strength
and Conditioning Coach – Chris Burt
Chris
Burt is in his first year as the strength and conditioning coach for the men’s
basketball team at Indiana University Southeast. He has served as volunteer
strength and conditioning consultant for the Grenadier baseball, basketball and
women's softball programs since 2005. Hired by IU Southeast Athletic Director
Pat Mrozowski in 2005 as a fitness center supervisor, Burt has conducted
numerous fitness seminars for the IU Southeast community.
Prior
to his stint at IU Southeast, Burt has served as the volunteer strength and
conditioning coach for Shawnee High School's (Louisville, Ky.) football
program. Burt's career as a strength and conditioning coach started in 2003
under the tutelage of local-renowned Exercise Physiologist Angela Carter-Lanon,
while working for the YMCA of Greater Louisville.
A 2006
graduate of IU Southeast, Burt received his bachelor’s degree in general
studies with minors in supervision and recreation. He also earned a Master's of
Science in health and wellness, with a concentration in performance enhancement
and injury prevention, from California University of Pennsylvania in 2007. Burt
currently works for IU Southeast and Ivy Tech Community College as an adjunct
lecturer where he teaches various courses on strength and conditioning.
Burt
is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Strength
and Conditioning Association and holds certifications from USA Weightlifting
(Level 1 club coach, and referee) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine
(Performance Enhancement Specialist). Burt resides in Louisville, Ky. with his
son Ian (5).
