The Office of Campus Life brings the college experience to life at IU Southeast, and Seuth Chaleunphonh is the office’s new Dean. It’s his job to keep the entire Campus Life operation running smoothly and to keep the student body at IU Southeast engaged, entertained and educated beyond the classroom.
Children’s Center Supports Students through Crisis and Classes - 10/01/2008
The Children’s Center staff is proud to announce that we were able to provide additional child care services for 30+ children of IU Southeast students who were without power after the wind storm of 2008. Even though it was a tough week for families, everyone had fun at the Children’s Center and the staff never heard a complaint about missing school!
The Children’s Center celebrates 30 years of service to the IU Southeast community this year and had a Luau in June to mark this moment in the center’s history. Not a stranger to change, the center has experienced many adjustments in its 30 years of services.
As the Coordinator for the IU Southeast Children’s Center for 10 of the 30 years, I have experienced many changes on campus and in the childcare field. I have also obtained both my undergraduate and master degrees in Elementary Education here at IU Southeast. As a part of the Campus Life team, the Children’s Center takes part in many events on campus. For example, last Saturday, the Children’s Carnival was sponsored by the IU Southeast Student Program Council Children’s Hour Series. We offered activities including inflatables, a water slide, and carnival food. The center also co-sponsors events, such as the Howl at the Moon on October 30th, with other departments on campus.
The center provides a preschool curriculum during the day and operates as an after school/daycare in the evenings for children ages three through nine. Children can be registered at anytime throughout the semester. The center has an open door policy and welcomes visitors. For more information, you may contact me at wmgregor@ius.edu.
