Welcome to Family and Parent Programs
IU Southeast Welcomes Families and Parents to the 2012/2013 Academic Year!
Family and Parent Programs (FPP) strives to connect students, parents and family members to the campus community and culture. Through collaboration with other campus units, Family and Parent Programs engages in parent and family outreach; communicates information of campus resources; and encourages involvement in campus activities and events, which promotes the value of higher education.
As a result, we have created this webpage especially for you!
We understand that being a parent or significant other of a busy and energetic college student comes with its joys, challenges, and often funny frustrations, so we are here to help. We hope this page will encourage you to become more involved in your student’s exciting journey by directing you to links to the services you will need as you ride with your son, daughter, or significant other on the IUS Express to his or her graduation.
From time management to getting involved, from financial aid to paying the bills, we know that students often will not seek help but will struggle in silence when questions in these areas arise. Our goal is to provide you, the parent/significant other, with the “directions” to success, so that you can assist your son, daughter, or significant other over the bumps in the road that all students occasionally encounter. Your involvement can be very important to your student’s success, no matter whether it is in the form of a hug, attendance at a campus event, or a conversation that provides a different perspective on issues he or she might encounter. The special links on this page will be helpful on this trek, and there is also a “to-go-to” professional available to help you along the way.
As you board the IUS Express, we invite you to look over the links on this page, explore the campus calendar for upcoming events you’d like to attend, investigate the Parent’s Perspective newsletter for topics of interest about college life, and get ready for the journey. Remember, knowledge is power, so let’s sit back and enjoy the ride.
