Under the direction of the School Age Childcare Coordinator and Site Director, and in harmony with the established policies and procedures of the School Age Childcare Department, the School Age Counselor helps to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the children in the program.
The School Age Childcare Counselor may be required to make use of multiline phones, fax machine, copier, and computer. There will be a need for occasional use of personal vehicle to attend required meeting and trainings. Other functions include light lifting, cleaning, assisting with children's personal hygiene, maintaining staff/child ratios, working school holidays and teacher in service days, and volunteering for one special event throughout the year. Counselor may be required to fulfill other child care department job responsibilities where needed, including entering the swimming pool, fitness area, and outdoors.
Minimum of 16 years of age. Ability to supervise children. Ability to work between 6:30 am and 6:00 pm. Experience in working with school age children, including special needs children preferred. Strong human relation skills needed to deal with school personnel, parents, peers, and general public. Sincere liking for and interest in children; strong desire to work with children in a childcare setting. Clean Child Protective Services Background Check.
