I want to use my current job as an internship

Use your current position for internship credit IF:
  • It is a new position or recent promotion
  • You are working on a special project
  • You have recently taken on new responsibilities

Email a copy of your job description to Rosie Shannon at roshanno@ius.edu. Be sure to include your supervisor’s contact information and your contact information.

Keep in mind that an internship must be related to your major and/or your future career plans. The experience must be hands-on and cannot consist of observing or shadowing. The position must have substance and cannot be overly clerical. Also, keep in mind that the number of credit hours earned is based on the number of work hours devoted per week to the new project/position/job duties.

If your position qualifies as an internship you will be asked to make an appointment to complete the internship paperwork and discuss the process of locating a faculty sponsor for your internship.
