Bio Image Brittney Coan

Brittney is from Petersburg, Indiana and earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology in May 2014. Brittney was a member of the IU Southeast women's tennis team for four seasons. The Grenadiers won four KIAC regular season and tournament titles during her collegiate career. She also served as vice-president of the IU Southeast Psychology Club during her academic career.

This season, Brittney helped keep the Grenadiers focused on their goals during a coaching change in September. Her senior leadership ensured the team did not miss a beat and won its 15th straight KIAC tournament championship in October.

Brittney was close to longtime IU Southeast tennis coach Bill Ryall, who passed away in December 2013. She helped him teach his Tennis for Beginners class. Brittney embodies the high standard of character that Coach Ryall represented.

Brittney has been a tremendous ambassador for the tennis program throughout her collegiate career. She has always been a positive influence on the rest of team and helped motivate them to play to their potential. She is always welcoming new recruits and helps make them feel at home. Her leadership on the court and success in the classroom make her a great choice for this award.

She graduated in May 2014 and is a caseworker for Ireland Home Based Services.
