Message from the Chancellor

Welcome!

Welcome to Indiana University Southeast! We are dedicated to providing high-quality education and lifetime growth opportunities for the people of Southern Indiana and the Greater Louisville region.

Currently over 6,200 students are enrolled in our 6 master’s degree programs, 39 bachelor’s degree programs, and 9 associate’s degree programs. Since we first began awarding degrees in 1968, over 20,000 people have graduated from IU Southeast, the great majority of whom return to our local community to live and work. In addition, we now have alumni living in each of the 50 states and in several foreign countries.

Our campus has a long history of excellent teaching and community service initiatives. Over 190 full-time faculty members, who hold degrees from leading universities throughout the nation, provide our students with up-to-date, high-quality courses and programs of study. The competence and caring of our faculty and staff lend strong support for both our traditional and non-traditional students in the context of small classes, a campus alive with co-curricular activities, and a local community fully engaged with the University.

In the last six years we have made dramatic improvements to our educational environment: our new $15.4 million Library which offers state-of-the-art resources and technology to our campus and regional community; a $10 million renovation and expansion of our Life Sciences Building; our new Graduate Center in Jeffersonville which provides easier access for Louisville residents to courses in Education, Business, and Continuing Studies; a major renovation and expansion of the University Center North and South to provide much better service to our students; and classroom upgrades to Crestview and Hillside Halls. In addition, our entire campus community is excited as we watch IU Southeast’s first-ever student residence halls being constructed at the core of our campus.

I cordially invite you to browse our website to learn more about IU Southeast and to discover how our University provides students with “Excellence Close to Home.”
