Message from the Chancellor

Welcome to Indiana University Southeast!  We are dedicated to providing high-quality education and lifetime growth opportunities for the people of Southern Indiana and the Greater Louisville region.

Currently about 7,200 students are enrolled in over 50 degree and certificate programs ranging up to the master’s degree level.  Since we first began awarding degrees in 1968, over 22,000 people have graduated from IU Southeast, the great majority (80-90%) of whom return to our regional community to live and work.  In addition, we now have alumni living in each of the 50 states and in several foreign countries.

Our campus has a long history of excellent teaching and community service initiatives.  Over 200 full-time faculty members, who hold degrees from leading universities throughout the nation, provide our students with up-to-date, high-quality courses and programs of study.  The competence and caring of our faculty and staff lend strong support for both our traditional and non-traditional students in the context of small classes, a campus alive with co-curricular activities, and a local community fully engaged with the University.

In the last decade we have made dramatic improvements to our educational environment:  an award-winning $15 million Library which offers state-of-the-art resources and technology to our campus and regional community; a $10 million renovation and expansion of our Life Sciences Building; our Graduate Center in Jeffersonville which provides easier access for Louisville residents to courses in Education, Business, and Continuing Studies; a major renovation and expansion of the University Center North and  South to provide much better service to our students; classroom and technology upgrades throughout campus; and IU Southeast’s highly successful, first-ever residence halls around the lake.  Our striking campus progress was recognized during our 2010 North Central Association 10-year reaccreditation visit when the seven-member review team gave the campus an outstanding final report.

I cordially invite you to browse our website to learn more about IU Southeast and to discover how our University provides students with a top-caliber education "that transforms good students into great leaders, one graduate at a time."
