After graduating from the University of Louisville with a B.A. degree with honors in 1968, Sherry then completed a Master of Science degree at IU Southeast in 1971. She began substitute teaching in the New Albany-Floyd County Schools while raising two children, Martha and Chris, with her husband, Charles. In 1987 Sherry began a career as a real estate broker for 18 years as a top producer in sales and assistant vice president at Semonin Realtors. Present, Sherry holds a real estate referral license with Semonin Home Services. She continues to work with her husband as a Vice President of Stemtech, Inc. in marketing and sales of the Forest Hills Development.

The most rewarding of Sherry's volunteer activities include the years as PTO president/vice President at both Galena Elementary and Floyd Central Junior and Senior High Schools, as well as working with the Kentuckiana Girl Scout Council.
