Welcome to the IU Southeast Common Experience.

Members of the local communities of Indiana and Kentucky are encouraged to join us for the third year of the Common Experience program. The theme for the 2008-09 academic year is "Greening of Earth: Whose Responsibility?" There will be a series of campus events such as speakers, panel discussions, children’s activities, book discussions, and movies centering on the theme and the books. Most of these events will be free to the community. The IU Southeast community of students, staff, and faculty invites you to read with us the following Common Experience readings - Oryx & Crake by Margaret Atwood and Whose Water is it? The Unquenchable Thirst of a Water-Hungry World edited by Douglas Jehl and Bernadette McDonald. The two books were selected because they illustrate the theme and will generate discussions about the environment, potential consequences of not being responsible for resolving environmental problems, and the conflicts that arise when environmental priorities clash. We hope you will join us during the 08-09 academic year for the IU Southeast COMMON EXPERIENCE!
