About Us
The Design Center was created in the fall of 2005 as part of IU Southeast’s Commitment to Excellence, a series of initiatives designed to enhance the university’s academic reputation and better serve our region’s needs.
Working under the faculty supervision of Associate Professor of Fine Arts Marilyn Whitesell and the coordination of Jeff Gillenwater, the Design Center has completed a diversity of projects for organizations both on and off campus, ranging in topic from the arts and historic preservation to small business development and low-income housing.
The quality of our students’ work has been recognized with awards from the Advertising Federation of Louisville and the Louisville Graphic Design Association and with publication in CMYK, a quarterly magazine highlighting the best student creative work from around the country.
