The IU Southeast School of Education offers the following programs for teachers to renew and/or enhance their license through additional coursework. Courses may be taken that will fulfill both Indiana and Kentucky requirements for license renewal.
Plus 30
Plus 30 plans are generally negotiated between Indiana teachers and their school corporations. The Graduate Advisor assists candidates as they plan their programs.
Rank I Change
Kentucky teachers may be recommended for a Rank I with a total of 60 graduate credit hours in Education (or teaching areas), including a master's degree. Post-masters work must be in a planned program. At IU Southeast, candidates must be admitted to a licensure program (Computer Education, Educational Leadership, ESL/ENL, Gifted and Talented, or Reading) to meet this requirement. The University must recommend the candidate to the Kentucky EPSB for the change in rank; this may include testing as required by the EPSB and application for the license.
Non-degree status
Candidates may be admitted to the graduate program for other non-degree status for one semester. They may take up to six hours while completing their applications for full admission to one of the graduate programs.
KENTUCKY EDUCATORS--ATTENTION!!! Educators licensed in Kentucky need official transcripts for license renewal and/or rank change applications. BE AWARE that official IU Southeast transcripts are not available immediately after coursework is completed. Transcripts with grades are usually available about one week after the end of each term (Fall, Spring, Summer 1, and Summer 2). (While some courses are finished in late July, grades will not be posted until mid-August.) Degrees are awarded three times a year: 5/31, 8/31, and 12/31; degrees are posted to official transcripts on or about 15 days later.
