Pearson Conducting Computer Based Pilot Tests for IN Core Programs

We are pleased to announce that you have the opportunity to participate in computer-based pilot testing in various educational fields. These assessments are part of the new Indiana CORE Assessments for Educator Licensure program.

We encourage you to participate in the pilot tests which will be offered at locations throughout Indiana during September 2013. All of the pilot test fields will be available from September 3,2013 – September 30, 2013.

This is a wonderful chance to get a first look at the questions that will be on future computer-based educator licensure tests. We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity by participating in the pilot test.

  • Secondary Education
  • Mathematics
  • Middle School English/Language Arts
  • Middle School Science
  • Middle School Social Studies
  • School Administrator – Building Level
  • School Administrator – District Level
  • Science – Chemistry
  • Science – Earth/Space Science
  • Science – Life Sciences
  • Science – Physical Science
  • Science – Physics
  • Social Studies – Geographical Perspectives
  • Social Studies – Government and Citizenship
  • Social Studies – Psychology
  • Social Studies – Sociology

Why should I participate?

  • As a participant in the pilot testing, you will receive a $50 Visa gift card for each completed test form. YOU MAY ONLY TAKE ONE TEST FORM PER FIELD. PLEASE ONLY TAKE TESTS FOR THE FIELD(S) IN WHICH YOU ARE PLANNING TO OBTAIN LICENSURE. Also, please note that it may take up to 8 weeks for you to receive your pilot test incentive.
  • You will have the opportunity to have a "first look" at questions that may be included on the computer-based tests.
  • You will have the chance to provide input on the test.

How long will it take?

The following fields will include multiple-choice questions and take approximately 90 minutes to complete:

  • Secondary Education
  • Middle School English/Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Middle School Science
  • Middle School Social Studies
  • Science – Chemistry
  • Science – Earth/Space Science
  • Science – Life Sciences
  • Science – Physical Science
  • Science – Physics

The following fields will include multiple-choice questions and take approximately 60 minutes to complete:

  • Social Studies – Geographical Perspectives
  • Social Studies – Government and Citizenship
  • Social Studies – Psychology
  • Social Studies – Sociology

The following fields will include multiple-choice questions and a written constructed-response question. These tests take approximately 125 minutes to complete:

  • School Administrator – Building Level
  • School Administrator – District Level

Where can I go to take the tests?

  • All of the fields will be offered at locations throughout Indiana, which can be located on an attached map.

Who is eligible to participate?

  • Juniors and Seniors and graduate students enrolled in Indiana colleges and universities who are interesting in teaching
  • Students who have recently graduated who have less than three (3) years of teaching experience

(Faculty members are NOT eligible to take pilot tests for the Indiana CORE Assessments for Educator Licensure program)
