Program Overview
Teaching Majors |
|
Candidates in the Secondary Education Program must select one of the four majors available in Secondary Education: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science (Life Science, Physical Science and/or Earth Space Science), or Social Studies (Historical Perspectives and at least two of the following: Government and Citizenship, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, and/or Geographical Perspectives-Human). Advising sheets for each of the majors can be found here. Other advising sheets may apply--see your Secondary program advisor on a regular basis. Candidates may elect to add other licensing areas to one of the four majors.
|
Teaching Minors |
|
Candidates may add one or more teaching minors to their teaching
license in addition to one of the four major areas (Language Arts, Math, Science, and
Social Studies). Please note: the University awards academic minors, but that
coursework may not meet state requirements for teaching minors. Candidates adding
one or more teaching minors must earn at least a 2.00 (C) in each course and have an
overall grade-point-average of 2.75 (on a 4.00 scale) in each minor. Consult with your
Secondary academic program advisor. Substitutions must be approved, signed, and
dated by a Secondary Education advisor.
