Welcome to the Transition to Teaching Program

People who already have a bachelor’s degree may qualify for Transition to Teaching--a "fast-track" teacher certification program. Candidates for Elementary certification must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with an overall grade-point-average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. An exception to the grade-point-average is available to those who have five years of appropriate full-time experience related to their major and at least a 2.50 GPA. Along with other application information, candidates must provide passing scores, based on the Indiana Office of Educator Licensing and Development, on both Praxis I (PPST) and the relevant Praxis II test(s), to be admitted to the program.  (IN does not place a time limit on Praxis scores; KY requires they be no more than five years old at the time of the license application.) Please see the Elementary Transition To Teaching Admissions Requirements for alternatives to PRAXIS I.

Interested persons should plan to attend a group advising session.  Dates, times, and locations are available at http://www.ius.edu/education/GradEdAdvise.cfm. If it is not possible to attend, or for further information, please contact the appropriate program coordinator.  Elementary: Sheryl Burns (sburns@ius.edu, 812/941.2012).

As of 6/1/2011, the Secondary T2T program is not accepting candidates until futher notice. Thank you for your interest in the program.
