Requirements for Associate of Arts in Geosciences

  • Math-M 118 or above.
  • One year proficiency in foreign language
  • Select one:
    • GEOG-G 107 Physical Systems of the Environment (3 cr.)
    • GEOL-G 100 Earth Science: Geologic Aspects (5 cr.)
  • Select one:
    • AST-A 100 The Solar System (3 cr.)
    • AST-A 105 Stellar Astronomy (3 cr.),
    • GEOG-G 201 World Regional Geography (3 cr.)
    • GEOL-G 221 Introductory Mineralogy (3 cr.)
  • 12 credit hours in geoscience with at least 9 credit hours in lecture-based geography, geology, or astronomy   courses, with at least 6 credit hours at the 300 - 400 level. Approval of program by geoscience advisor required.
  • Electives bring total to 60 credit hours.

Requirements:

  • Either GEOG-G 107 (3 cr.) Physical Systems of the Environment or GEOL-G 100 Earth Science: Geologic Aspects (5 cr.) or GEOG-G 107 Physical Systems of the Environment (3 cr.)
  • Select one :
    • AST-A 100 The Solar System (3 cr.) or AST-A 105 Stellar Astronomy (3 cr.),
    • GEOG-G 201 World Regional Geography (3 cr.)
    • GEOL-G 221 Introductory Mineralogy (3 cr.)
  • 9 - 12 credit hours with at least 9 credit hours in lecture-based formal geography, geology, or astronomy courses, with at least 6 credit hours at the 300 - 400 level. Approval of program by geoscience advisor required. Students cannot earn a minor in geoscience if they apply for a geoscience major or a geography or geology minor.
