Position: Maintenance Assistant (This is an hourly, temporary position)
Pay: $14.00/hr, no benefits available
Will spend the bulk of their time removing and replacing T8 electronic ballasts and lights. Must also have the ability to: Assist in maintain the heating, ventilating, air conditioning. And plumbing systems. Repair electrical and plumbing problems. Maintain food service equipment. Troubleshoot campus utility issues and outages. Actively participate in the campus Preventative Maintenance program. Provide minor appliance and furniture repair support to Student Housing. Tasks include, but are not limited to; electrical equipment and systems repairs, plumbing, wiring, measuring, and use of hand and power tools.
High School education or GED equivalent
Vocational training in electrical with some knowledge of HVAC and plumbing
Two years documented facilities or electrical experience
Ability to read and understand written instruction
Ability to follow directions from written or oral instruction
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Driver's license preferred
Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds
Ability to use or operate multi-meters, pumps, generators, man lifts, electrical equipment, power and shop tools, etc.
Proven orientation toward quality customer service
A basic familiarity with computers and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
Ability to sit, stand, walk, pull, push, carry, climb a ladder, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, hold, bend, squat, crouch, lift, see and work in an awkward position
Unpleasant working conditions are: contact with hazardous waste, unpleasant odors, loud noise, vibrations, with hot and cold temperatures.
