Applications for staff positions are only accepted for open posted positions and all applications must be submitted online through OLA. An online process provides efficient use of IU and environmental resources, 24/7 access for applicants, and opportunities for an expanded diverse applicant pool.
Clerical, technical and service maintenance positions are posted daily for a total of 10 working days.
Staff positions include the following categories: Professional generally requires a Bachelors Degree or higher Clerical examples would be: Accounting, Administrative and/or Office Assistants, Secretaries, and Records Specialist Technical includes computer assistant/helpdesk and/or media services, telecommunications Service Maintenance Police officers, Grounds, Custodians, HVAC and maintenance mechanics
You are responsible for maintaining your information in OLA. Please be sure to update any personal or resume information as your employment history changes.
Applications are reviewed on a regular basis. After you have logged in to OLA, select My Jobs from the menu. In the listing that appears, scan the Date Referred column. Referred indicates hiring managers have received your materials. Reasons as to why you weren't referred also will be listed here. You can also view the status of the job search, i.e. whether interviews are being conducted or a candidate has been selected.
ALL clerical positions will need to complete any testing requirements before the deadline date posted on the job position. Tests may include WPM (words per minute test), Microsoft Word, Excel and/or Access. Required testing components will be determined by the minimum requirements of the position you are applying for. Tests must be completed in the Human Resources office. The office is located in University Center South on the second floor, room 244. More information is available on the Testing Information page.
The Human Resources office is available for testing from 8:15am-11:30am and 1:00pm-4:30pm, Monday-Friday. No appointment is necessary. Please allow 30 minutes to complete testing procedures depending on the skill level required for the position. Keep in mind scores must be on file before the deadline. If you wait until the last few days before a deadline, you may have longer wait times to complete testing. More information is available on the Testing Information page.
You may only take the test(s) once every 30 days. Tests are kept on file in OLA for one year, however as software packages are updated you may be required to complete new testing. More information is available on the Testing Information page.
