In addition to the scholarships to support study abroad (see the study abroad page for more information), there are a variety of grants available to support international activities such as researching international topics or international instructional development activities. These grants are offered primarily for IU Southeast faculty.
The International Programs Committee considers the following ranked criteria in making its decisions:
Students applying for a scholarship to go on a program in which they have already participated will not be awarded funding. However, this does NOT exclude applicants who want to travel to the same country on a fundamentally different program.
If a scholarship recipient is unable to complete the proposed study abroad program for any reason other than a documented case of extreme emergency, he or she must repay all funds awarded within 30 days of dismissal or withdrawal from the program. This includes, but is not limited to, early dismissal from a program for academic or behavioral reasons.
Students who do not receive a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 for the courses taken on the study abroad program must repay the full amount of the scholarship within 30 days of notification of grades.
Acceptance of this funding obligates students to publicize the opportunities and advantages of overseas study upon their return (such as speaking before a student group or writing an article for the campus paper).

The intent of the CCR Travel Grant is to assist an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at Indiana University Southeast in a cultural experience that involves direct personal interactions within another culture (e.g. homestay, teaching, conference attendance and/or presentation) beyond those of a guided tour. All majors are welcome to apply. Stronger consideration may be given to applicants pursuing education-related careers and those graduate students who have received his or her bachelor's degree within the past two years. The above are guidelines and not absolute restrictions.
Ambassadorial Scholarships are for one academic year abroad and provide funding for round-trip transportation, tuition and fees, room, board, some educational supplies, and language training (if necessary) up to a maximum award of $28,000 or its equivalent.
The IU Office of the Vice President for International Affairs offers an array of grants to encourage faculty from all the IU campuses to engage in international activities. These grants can cover a range of activities including conference attendance, research projects, instructional or curriculum development, and international cooperation projects.
The John W. Ryan Award for Distinguished Contributions to International Programs and Studies honors Indiana University faculty members for exceptional contributions to the University's international programs and studies.
Funding: Recipients of this award will be recognized at the Founder's Day ceremony with a certificate and an award of $1,000 to be provided by the IU Foundation. Up to two awards are given each year within the IU system.

Support for IU faculty to acquire new language capability necessary for carrying out a planned research activity or to enhance teaching, or engage in other university-related activities. Grants may be awarded for intensive language programs in the US or abroad, special tutorials, or regularly offered language courses. Self study programs will not be funded.
Funding: Maximum $2,500

Partial support for faculty to attend an international conference to present a competitively selected paper.
Each year OVPIA recruits faculty members and librarians for short-term (maximum of one month) assignments at a number of partner institutions abroad during the calendar year.
Funding: Round-trip airfare, housing, living stipend
