Curriculum Materials Center
The IUS Curriculum Materials Center houses three distinct collections: the Center for Cultural Resources, a K-12 Textbook Repository, as well as a Library collection of children's and young adult literature and resources for education majors and community members.
The Center for Cultural Resources is a collection of resource kits, each organized to teach a core of 12 universal themes on unity and diversity. Many of the kits have an international focus on a particular geographic region or individual country, others focus on a particular time period or ethnic group, e.g. the Amish. The kits are available for checkout through the IUS Library Circulation Desk or can be ordered through the Wilson Learning Center after receiving a brief orientation and borrower's card. The K-12 Textbook Repository is one of seven sites around the State of Indiana. During the textbook adoption cycle for a particular subject, we will receive copies of textbooks and supporting materials from all publishers hoping to have their product adopted by individual school systems. The textbook site is open to the public, particularly educators, to review the materials. After the adoption cycle, the books that are not reclaimed by the publishers become a part of the IUS Collections, replacing older textbooks from the previous cycle on that subject.
The Curriculum Materials Center Library of Congress collection contains a sampling of award-winning children's literature, as well as resource kits, videos, DVD's and other materials to help educators design curriculum for their students. In IUCAT materials located in the Curriculum Materials Center have a Location Code of CULAB.
