netLibrary Directions
Through a consortial purchase made in partnership with a group of Indiana libraries, the Indiana University Southeast Library furnishes access to electronic books via netLibrary. The netLibrary collections consist of more than five hundred recently published academic and popular electronic books (for a title list, see http://www.incolsa.net/services/netlibtitle.html) as well as thousands of public domain titles. netLibrary electronic books can be viewed or checked out from any IUS campus workstation or from off-campus workstations.
Checking out a netLibrary book is a three step process. The first step, "Creating a netLibrary Account," MUST be carried out from a campus workstation. Subsequent transactions can be carried out from any convenient location.
Creating a netLibrary account

Downloading the E-Book Reader
Optional, but the Reader offers enhanced functionality, and is required if you wish to read downloaded books offline.
- From the netLibrary homepage, click the netLibrary e-BOOK READER icon (lower right portion of the page) and follow the directions. This step may be completed from any workstation at which you desire to read netLibrary texts. After you have completed this step, you can check out and download netLibrary e-books.
- Click the BROWSE icon (the open book in the upper left hand corner) to return to the catalog, or use the SEARCH option found at the top of most netLibrary screens.

Finding and Checking Out netLibrary Electronic Books
- You
may search the netLibrary catalog in a number of ways: title,
subject, author, keyword, or anywhere within the text. You
can also browse the collection by searching for a publication
year or range of years (e.g., 1990-2000).
- Choose your preferred
searching method, type your search terms, and click SEARCH.
- Select
desired titles from the results list.
- From the "Read
this e-book" box, choose to browse or read
online, or to download.
- If you select "download" you will be prompted
for the USERNAME and PASSWORD you created earlier (refer to CREATING
AN ACCOUNT). You will then be returned to the “download” screen;
select DOWNLOAD again.
- Under DOWNLOAD THE E-BOOK, click on the book title;
you may be prompted for your username/password again.
- If you
wish to read downloaded books offline, you must install the
e-BOOK READER software. IF YOU HAVE NOT YET INSTALLED
THE e-BOOK READER, SKIP DIRECTLY TO DOWNLOADING THE e-BOOK
READER.
- Your electronic book (table of contents, etc.) will
then appear on the screen. Also, any netLibrary electronic
books you have checked out will appear in a window on the
lower right side of your screen.
