Mentoring Program
Red Heading Underline

The Center for Mentoring has designed its Mentoring Program to help students successfully engage and adjust to campus life at Indiana University Southeast.

The Mentoring Program pairs you personally with a mentor who will guide you from your first year on through graduation. Mentors are faculty, staff or alumni who will counsel, listen, guide, advise and/or support you while you are a student at IU Southeast. They are knowledgeable about IUS and are experienced in working with students. Mentors will also provide you with a direct connection to campus.

If you are a first year student or transfer student you will also be assigned a fellow student peer mentor who has been trained to help you. Your peer mentor will help answer questions you may have, keep you up-to-date on important dates that you could easily forget, and be another friendly knowledgeable face on campus that you already know.

In addition, the Mentoring Program provides receptions for you and your mentor(s). It is a great time to meet others in a relaxed atmosphere on campus. Activities are designed to provide you with information that will improve your knowledge on finances, budgeting, careers and/or academics.

What can the Mentoring Program do for you as a student?

  • Enrich your experience at IU Southeast
  • Guide and assist you in achieving your goals
  • Provide you with support and encouragement
  • Provide a sense of belonging to IUS
  • Connection through one-on-one relationships
  • Networking opportunities
  • Provide opportunities in leadership development
  • Allow you the opportunity to build lasting relationships

A former graduate of IUS, who was enrolled in the Mentoring Program after his freshman year said, "Having someone to talk to and depend on is always a comfort. My mentor and I appreciate one another and are thankful that we had the chance to be a part of one another's life." Just like this graduate we want you to make a connection and have a successful college experience.
