Melinda Cumberledge
(voice) is beginning her fifth year at Indiana University Southeast. She
has frequently been seen and heard on opera
and concert stages throughout the Midwest. This Metropolitan Opera National Council District Winner has delighted Kentucky Opera audiences by bringing to life such roles as Frasquita in Carmen, Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore, and the First
Lady in The Magic Flute. She has also sung roles with Chattanooga Opera, Tulsa Opera and Nevada Opera.
A versatile performer, Ms. Cumberledge’s experience ranges from opera to Broadway to cabaret. She has appeared in concert with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra in Kentucky
Christmas Chorus, An Evening with Rogers and Hammerstein and Back to Broadway. She also has been featured in concert with the Louisville Orchestra on the Nightlites concert
series, Christmas Pops and on the PBS statewide telecast, “Live from the Governor’s Mansion.”
Ms. Cumberledge is a lifelong resident of Kentucky, and received her degree in Vocal Performance from the
University of Kentucky.
