New Dynamic Records - the IU Southeast Music Department's record label - recently released a documentary entitled, Music Of Our Time, chronicling the label's mission to discover and record new, cutting-edge art music from around the world and distribute it to audiences that are not typically exposed to music outside of the popular culture.
The documentary features interesting topics, including discussions about the reality of producing a recording, problems/opportunities for record labels in the future, and how our artists see themselves as musicians of contemporary art music. Performance excerpts by the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble (performed at IU Southeast) are also featured in addition to excerpts of music from all of the albums released by New Dynamic Records.
