The program will include solo guitar works by Narváez, Mudarra, Rodrigo, Martz, Barrios, and Brouwer.

Mexican guitarist, Ricardo Saeb, has performed in various venues over Latin America, Europe and the United States. His tours have taken him to diverse cities including Querétaro, Morelia, Ciudad Juárez, Chicago, Austin, Boston, and Córdoba. Ricardo Saeb has appeared as a guest artist in international festivals like the Festival Internacional de Música de Morelia, Festival Internacional Chihuahua, Querétaro’s International Guitar Festival, Chicago’s Latin American Guitar Festival, etc.

In addition to his solo performances, Ricardo has played in an array of music ensembles. He recently performed Manuel M. Ponce’s Concierto del Sur as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the State of Chihuahua and conductor Armando Pesqueira.  His performance was described by critics as “perfectly balanced”, “of an exquisite subtlety”, and “simply espectacular”. Ricardo has also collaborated with various artists including mezzo-soprano Melissa Snow-Groves in a baroque program; mezzo Sarah Klopfenstein in the de Falla’s Spanish songs; noted tenor Manuel Castillo in Schubert lieder; soprano Claudia Lucia Grenier in Colombian folk music; renowned pianist Cliff Jackson in music from Manuel Ponce; the Orchestra of the Chihuahua Conservatory in Vivaldi concertos; talented guitarist Andrew Rhinehart in arrangements from The Beatles.

Ricardo’s love of music led him to perform diverse repertoire from the Spanish rennaisance to contemporary pieces.  In his search for perfection, Ricardo has taken masterclasses with the leading guitarists of our time, including David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Leo Brouwer, Pepe Romero, Oscar Ghiglia, Marcin Dylla, Zoran Dukic, Denis Azabagic among others.

Ricardo began his music education at the Conservatory of Chihuahua, later continued at the Conservatorio de las Rosas and the University of Texas at Austin with Adam Holzman. He won the third prize of the National Guitar Competition “Guitarra sin Fronteras” in 2004. In 2012 he received his Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Kentucky. There he continues as a DMA candidate with a full scholarship under the great mentorship of professor Dieter Hennings.

In adition to performing, Ricardo is dedicated to teaching. He enjoys sharing his outlook and enthusiasm for music. He has given masterclasses in universities and guitar festivals. Prior to being invited to continue his musical education at the University of Kentucky, Ricardo was the guitar professor at the University of Ciudad Juárez. He currently is a Teaching Assistant in the guitar program at the University of Kentucky.

Ricardo’s future commitments include solo performances at Indiana University Southeast, Bellarmine University, Missouri, and Georgia. Ricardo will also join tenor Manuel Castillo in a concert at the University of Kentucky. At the end of the year, Ricardo is set to record music by Joaquin Rodrigo, Agustin Barrios, and Leo Brouwer.
