2012 Alumni Recognition Luncheon

Dr. Robert PappasWe had a very nice turnout at our 2012 annual recognition luncheon. Natural Sciences honored Dr. Robert Pappas for his contribution to Chemistry. He graduated from IU Southeast in 1990 with a BA in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. He was recognized his senior year as an outstanding Chemistry student. He went on to receive his Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of Tennessee in 1995.

In 1998, Dr. Pappas established Essential Oil University, offering consulting, formulation/duplication and analytical testing services for the cosmetics/personal care, flavor, fragrance and essential oil industries. He is the inventor of the StoveStill, a small-scale home distillation devise for the purpose of distilling botanical essential oils on any kitchen stove. His website at is the largest online chemical reference database for essential oils in the world. We were proud to have him teach an essential oils chemistry course this past spring.
